Today’s card features a focal point of words and floral elements that were created using the dies and stamps from Spellbinders. Two sets were used: Sweet Sayings Sentiments dies and Lyrical Layered Florals stamp and die set. The later being a color layering stamp set with coordinating dies. The great thing about today’s card is that it stretches my supplies because it was made using the leftover piece after die cutting the word hello for another card I made previous to this one.

First, I trimmed the leftover piece to fit on the front of my card, which you can see on the image above. Now, I had wanted to round the corners of this piece but I glued it down before I remembered to do that! Silly me. Oh well. I’ll describe how to fix that later. Next, I stamped the floral element using the color layering stamp set. Instead of inking the stamps with a stamp pad, I used the clean color real brush markers from Zig. They are watercolor markers and give that beautiful watercolor effect. The colors I used were two tones of pink and two tones of teal to match the colors of cardstock: light pink and light carmine with turquoise green and persian green. The cardstock I used comes from the Spellbinders color essentials cardstock in the colors Dahlia and Teal Topaz.
As I promised, I will now describe how I rounded the corners of the Hello Hello focal point after I adhered it. Since I couldn’t go back and cut it after I’d glued it down, I took a piece of the teal topaz in the same shape and size as the Dahlia Hello Hello piece and cut the corners of it. Then, I glued those pieces to the corners of the Dahlia piece. It give the appearance that the Dahlia piece has rounded corners.
Finally, to add some finishing touches, I used some self-adhesive peel-off stickers in gold. Those are the pretty little gold lines on either side of the teal topaz cardstock. The result is a very elegant, clean and simple card! I hope you give it a try.
