Thankful for You

Today I have another card for you that I made using the Spellbinders February 2021 Monthly Card Kit Subscription called, “Let Your Heart Soar”. This one uses some colors in the orange family along with the beautiful purple hue from the last card along with some cute little birdies and a beautiful floral pattern. It’s a simple card which requires very little tools to make. I’m sure you’ll enjoy creating it if you give it a try. As always, feel free to play around with the layout and place items they way you prefer. The kit comes with 10 cards and 10 envelopes in the A2 size, which is 4 1/4″ by 5 1/2″. The cards are a bright white and have a beautiful texture on them. I can see decorating the front of the card with just a few of the die cut shapes from the kit and a greeting in order to allow the texture to draw the eye and add interest. Everything you see on the card comes in the kit.

I used three pieces of the pattern paper on this card. One for the background, one in the middle, and one as a mat for the two tags I’m using as a greeting. I trimmed the third one down to be just larger than the two tags, and cut a fishtail in it to match the two tags. I highlighted the tags by flanking them with a 1/8″ strip of gold cardstock, which comes in the kit too! (I told you it was a great value). Of course, you could have used border stickers or inked the edges instead. I used a rotary trimmer with a scalloped blade to create the ruffle on the bottom of the floral pattern paper. I think that a larger scallop would be a better choice here, so I have linked to some other products down below that would give that effect. In addition to this alternative, I’m thinking that cutting the pattern paper to a smaller size would allow the pretty orange background pattern to show up a bit more. It’s your choice. The flowers you see on the card were shaped using a metal stylus and adhering them to the card with some liquid adhesive. Finally, I used foam adhesive for the bird so it would be on a higher plane than the rest of the elements.

This card would make a beautiful Easter, Hello Spring, Happy Birthday, or almost any happy occasion card. Use your imagination and see what you can come up with! Enjoy the video below and the links are after it.

For the Scallop Border I used a Fiskars Rotary Trimmer with a 45mm Scallop Blade. This tool is not readily available anymore. You could use a border punch, decorative scissors, border dies, or an electronic cutting machine to get the scallop border. Here is a link to some border dies from Lawn Fawn that will cut a larger scallop than the one seen in the video:

Hello Lovely

I’m making cards with a card kit from Spellbinders that you can subscribe to on a monthly basis. I’m not an affiliate with Spellbinders, but I love this kit. It is a great value if you subscribe to the monthly kit. I’m having so much fun with it. It’s called, “Let Your Heart Soar” and it’s the February 2021 edition. Today’s card is my favorite so far. I love everything about it: the colors, the layout, the whole look really. I decided to create some layers using the patterned paper, tags and stickers from the kit. It has a very sweet, feminine sense about it. The colors also lend themselves nicely to Spring or Easter. The colors and the cute little birdies would work well for this season. You can see the unboxing of the kit on my YouTube channel: Unboxing Spellbinders February 2021 “Let Your Heart Soar” Card Kit.

Feel free to change the placement or layout of the items on the card to suit your preferences. Don’t be afraid to trim down pieces that seem to large for the card, which is what I did with the green ephemera tag. The three little hearts are puffy stickers from the kit. As I say in the video, when you decorate the front of your cards, always be sure to use items in sets of odd numbers. I used 3 hearts instead of 2 or 4 (even number) because our eyes are drawn to things that are arranged in sets of odd numbers. Another detail on this card is the gold foiling on the lettering. It adds a hint of elegance to this lovely card. Many of the pieces from this kit have bits of gold foiling on them.

Hooray Card

Today, I’m making a celebration card using supplies from a monthly card kit subscription from Spellbinders. It’s the February 2021 kit called, “Let Your Heart Soar.” It comes with so many awesome things. It’s a really great value. I am not an affiliate with Spellbinders. I purchased the subscription with my own money. I’m sharing it with you because I really like the kit and think it’s a great buy. They include 10 blank cards and envelopes, cardstock, dies, stamp set, a 6 x 6 patterned paper pak with 40 sheets of single sided patterned paper, die cut shapes, and more. Check it out at the Spellbinders Website.

The card for today is a very cute celebration card in pastel purple. I used the foam adhesive that comes in the card kit to “pop-up” the chipboard frame (also comes in the kit, what’d I tell you, it’s a great buy) and other elements on the front of the card. I used the stamp set and some of the die cut shapes to decorate the inside of the card. To add some more contrast to the front of the card, an additional step of stamping some of the tiny hearts from the included stamp set onto the purple card-base with some purple ink in a shade just a bit darker than the card base is an option you may choose. I did not do this but I think it would be a nice touch. You can see the tiny hearts I used on the inside of the card. Check out the video and product links below:

Confetti Hearts Card

This card features a die from Hero Arts called Heart Confetti. I layered some red foil paper and purple glitter paper beneath the gold cardstock to make it really stand out and shine. This card is perfect for Valentine’s Day, but it is also great for any other occasion where a heart communicates care, love, concern, longing, or sympathy. Be sure to use a thick cardstock for the card base since there are lots of layers on this card. I recommend 110lb cardstock. Check out the video below and the supplies I used on this card a linked below the video.
