Autumn Card with Leaf Windows and Metallic Vellum

Autumn leaves are so beautiful and vellum is a unique medium, so it wasn’t too difficult to form the idea to combine them for this card.  As you can see, I used leaf dies to cut three “windows” out of my front panel.  Then, I backed the windows with three different colors of metallic vellumred, green, and purple.  However, I used gold vellum on top of each of the three colors to give each leaf a bit more shimmer and warmth.  I love how it gave the perfect autumn tone to each color.

leafwindowthumbnailThe vines on the leaves were made by stamping them with versmark ink and using gold embossing powder, then heat embossing them with a heat gun.   The sentiment was also heat embossed.  Finally, some gold, glittery washi tape was used to create a horizontal border on the left.  Please enjoy my YouTube video below.

Merry Christmas Recessed Panel Card

Greetings!  Today I have a Christmas card for you.  It features a recessed panel and starry sky to accommodate Mary, Joseph, and baby Jesus.  The inspiration for the recessed panel came from Handcrafted by Helen on YouTube.  Links to the products I used are below.  Hope you like it :0)

xmasrecessedpanel

I used a text background stamp by Stampendous with gift tissue paper to create the background, which is also the recessed panel (because it’s behind the blue panels that create the frame).  A little Golden matte medium to adhere the tissue paper to some tan cardstock, and then some Ranger Archival ink to stamp the image and I was ready to color it with Faber-Castel PITT artist brush pens (really more like markers).  The Hero Arts sentiment was heat embossed with Wow embossing powder.  I used some peel off stickers from the Paper Studio to line the edge of the blue starry sky panels.  The star is also a peel off sticker that I put on some cardstock and then colored it in with a Uniball Signo silver gel pen, which I also used to add some light rays coming from the star and to color Mary and Joseph’s headbands.  Happy early Merry Christmas!  Enjoy the YouTube video below.

Fall Clean and Simple Card for the SIP Challenge 116

So, I love clean and simple cards.  They tend to have an air of class and sophistication, but they can be fun and playful as well.  That is what I chose to do for the Stamp, Ink, Paper Challenge 116 Clean and Simple Fall.  Instructions and video below.

fallcleansimple

To  make this card, I decided to use some pumpkin dies and a gel printing plate by Gelli Arts with red, yellow, and orange craft acrylic paints.  I used regular copy paper and a swivel x-acto knife to cut out a frame.  I also had to cover the edges in the image below where you can see the paint so that only that wonky boarder would print on my card.  BTW, I used a soft brayer to spread the paint on the gel printing plate.

template2cleansimple

Then, I used the pumpkin dies to create a pumpkin template.  I had to apply paint to my gel printing plate a second time to pull the pumpkin print.

fallcleansimpletemplate

When it was all dry, I used a Uniball Signo white gel pen to add some doodling details and a cute stamp set by Your Next Stamp (http://www.yournextstamp.com) called “Fun Faces” to add the faces to the pumpkins. I used versa-fine ink for this, but I should have used my Pitt artist brush pen in black to apply ink to the stamps instead. It works better on top of acrylic paint – less smudges. Thanks, and I hope you enjoyed the card.

Monochromatic Male Birthday Card with Cricut Mini and Urban Graffiti Stamp Set

My son is 18!  Wow, it’s really been 18 years since I first saw his beautiful little face.  Of course, it goes without saying, he will ALWAYS be my baby!  I made this card for him using a stamp set designed by Sara Davies for Crafter’s Companion.  It’s a cool stamp set that can be used for tons of different projects-not just for males!  I decided to use the color blue in three different shades.  Below is the result.  See the video below the image and links to the products below that.

Pearlescent Watercolor with Flower Stencil

Found a flower stencil at the dollar store and decided to use it with my Yasutomo Pearlescent Watercolors.  The card below is the result.  I decided to embellish it with self-adhesive gemstones.  With so many gemstones, I don’t feel it needs any greeting on the front, so I’ll put it inside.  That is just as well, since I didn’t make the card with anyone in particular in mind.  I was just feeling creative!  It will go in my stash to be used as a quick grab when I need it :0)

Pop it Up Firework Card with Stampendous Make it Pop Cutting Dies

Hello and Happy 4th of July (almost)!

Today I have a firework card for you.  I used the Stampendous Fran’s Make it Pop Cutting Dies which also include some border dies which can be used on any kind/occassion card. The front panel and the firework on the inside was made from holographic paper I purchased at a dollar store.  The inside of the card contains a black background to replicate the night sky, which I thought would enhance the pop it up firework.  The image below doesn’t do credit to the card – it’s difficult to get a good pic of holographic paper. However, you can get a better view of it by watching my YouTube video on my channel Greeting Star.  Both are below.  The supplies I used are also linked beneath the video.

Happy Memorial Day-Coloring Freebie!

I wish everyone a joyous day full of family, friends, and freedom. Thank you to all who have served! Please enjoy this flag I created with Adobe Illustrator which you can color.  To get this digital image, right click on the image and select, “Save image as” and then choose the folder you want to save it in.  Never use “Copy image” because the quality of the image will be degraded if you resize it before printing it.  Also, if you plan to color it, you will want to use a laser printer so the ink will not run when it comes into contact with the medium with which you choose to color the flower.  I have read that some people set ink jet images with a heat gun and it doesn’t run when coloring it, but I never had any luck with that method.

Happy Mother’s Day!

Hello and welcome to my blog,

Today I’m sharing a mother’s day card I made with Tim Holtz Distress Oxide inks.  In my opinion, these inks are great because they serve several purposes.  They accomplish this by being a hybrid between dye and pigment ink.  First, they can be used like a distress ink because they react with water to give a weathered look.  Second, they have a finish that looks like chalk ink, so they can be used for stamping, and they are beautiful on white cardstock (which is they way I used them for the card below).  Third, they can be used to heat emboss!  So if you are looking for an all purpose ink, these inks are it!!  They come in 12 colors currently, but I’m sure more are on the way!!  You can watch this card being made on my Youtube channel by clicking the video beneath the image of the card.  Thanks and have a great day:)

Belated Valentine’s Day Card

I know this is quite a bit late, but I’ve been a busy girl lately.  Here is my final Valentine’s Day card of 2017.  I used some really cute heart die cuts by Little B™ to cut out a heart window. As a background, I used some really pretty rose patterned paper from an old Colorbok® paper pack. To create the shaker area, I used foam tape and two pieces of acetate. To see the card being made, check it out on my Youtube channel below. Thanks for reading/watching!
