My cards for today are made using heart die cuts. They can be used as Valentines Day cards, Thank You cards, I Miss You cards, or any other sentiment that goes with hearts. I chose to use the Thank You Sentiment on some of them. For the die cutting, I used a Spellbinders Platinum with a 8.5 inch platform. This is the larger machine that allows you to cut from 8.5″ wide pages. I used to use a Cricut Cuttlebug machine, but found that intricate dies didn’t always cut well. It’s great for the Thinlits or Framelits, but one of the dies I’m using today, called Lace Hearts by Spellbinders, has lots of small areas and finer details that might not cut as well with the Cuttlebug.

Sometimes, when you use dies, there are scraps of paper left over. I didn’t want to just set them aside for later, so I ended up using them to create additional cards. So, today, I have four cards for you. I had fun deciding which specialty paper to use and how to pair them with the die cuts. I hope you enjoy watching and I hope you’ll give them a try.

Making Valentine’s Day cards is so fun. The bright pinks, purples, and reds are fun to pair with anything that sparkles. My sparkle of choice was specialty paper such as shimmer paper or pearl paper from Cricut or glitter paper from the Dollar Tree store as well as holographic paper from Lawn Fawn or the Dollar Tree. Don’t forget foil paper. Using a die from Technique Tuesday called, “Cascading Hearts”, I created a window of falling hearts on my Valentine’s Day cards through which you can see the sparkle of the specialty papers I used. Don’t forget, you can make these cards as “Thank You” or “Thinking of You” or “Missing You” cards if you don’t want to make them into Valentine’s Day cards. As always, have fun and use your imagination…’cause, isn’t that the point?!

Today, I’m doing some bible journaling. I really enjoyed this chapter from the book of Psalm that I read during a recent daily devotion. The whole chapter is a blessing, but I wanted to highlight verse 17 which says, “But the mercy of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him, and his righteousness unto children’s children;”

I love that his mercy is upon those that fear him. Some may take issue with the word fear. They may not like to think we should fear the Lord. However, I think we should stand in awe of Him and have the proper reverence and respect for Him. He upholds the worlds in his hands. He gave us our breath. He created everything! Read some of the commentaries on it. Besides, fear can be a good thing even if we don’t like how it makes us feel. It keeps us from and warns us of danger. Understanding and acknowledging who God is makes us realize we need to obey Him. Too many today think God is not watching and feel they can sin without consequence. Others don’t believe in Him at all. This is the cause of so many of society’s ills. I heard someone say that a society without God could not write enough laws to maintain civilization. But, when there is a healthy respect and reverence for God, our values and morals align with God’s Word, and society benefits from this as well as each individual. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom Proverbs 9:10 KJV.

Here is the last Christmas card I’m posting this year! It’s a simple, easy card to make. You’ll just need some patterned paper and red, metallic pin stripe stickers. Since you can’t have Christmas without a little shimmer, don’t forget a Wink of Stella glitter brush pen to add some to all the Christmas trees on the card. Add a greeting to the front and decorate the inside of the card with more patterned paper. I used a sticker from the sticker sheet that came with the patterned paper I used on this card. If you are an artsy type of person who enjoys getting your hands messy, you’ll love making this card. I used texture paste and mixed it with some PearlEx pigment powders which have mica in them to make shiny, dimensional snowflakes on my card. I also used a candy cane stripped stencil to ink a pattern background for my snowflakes. Instead of using traditional red and green Christmas colors, I went with purple and red. I think the colors blend in with the candy theme the stencil creates. Watch the video to see how it’s done:

I love Christmas, especially the lights. The feeling of peace and joy abounds when lights are all aglow at night. To replicate the glow, I used foiling details on the poinsettia focal images in the card for today. It was not difficult to do. Using a glue pen, I traced the petals of the poinsettias and let it dry. Then, I used gold deco foil to create that shine. You can do this with any image you have. Foil comes in many different colors and varieties. Green foil to outline the leaves of a Christmas tree or multi color foil to add lights to a tree is one choice. Pearlescent foil for snowflakes is another. As I always say, your imagination is your only limitation. I hope you’ll give this card a try!
